Audio Link vs QR code
Use a QR code when people are close to something they can see. Use an Audio Link when they can hear it but can't easily look at it — across a hall, on air or on a screen across the room. Many campaigns use both.
Side by side
| Aspect | Audio Link | QR code |
|---|---|---|
| What people need | To hear the sound | To see and frame the code |
| Distance | Across a room, within speaker range | Around arm's length |
| Where it fits | TV, radio, podcasts, events, stores | Print, packaging, posters, screens up close |
| Change the destination | Yes, without new audio | Yes, with a dynamic QR code |
| Visible on the creative | No | Yes |
Honest limits
Audio Links need microphone permission and enough volume; QR codes need light and a steady camera. Neither works everywhere.
