The technology behind an Audio Link.
Plain answers about what is in the sound, what happens on the phone and what the platform checks.
Technology in detail
- What the sound carries
- A compact identity with integrity checks and error correction. No URL, no customer data, no secrets.
- Where detection happens
- On the listener's device. The phone looks for an identity in what the microphone hears and sends only that candidate to be verified — not the recording.
- What the platform verifies
- That the identity is genuine, that the Audio Link is live and that its destination passed our safety checks before anyone is sent there.
- Ready means tested
- Every output is checked automatically, including compression and noise simulations, before it is marked ready. A real-world test in your Test Lab comes next.
- What it is not
- A recorded sound can be replayed somewhere else, so an Audio Link is a way to engage people, not proof that someone was in a room. It is not meant for payments, access control or check-in security.
- Where we are today
- SonarTag is in early access. The detection engine is being benchmarked across devices, speakers and rooms, and the product marks preview behaviour clearly until that work is done.
